ABOUT DERMAL FILLERS
Dermal fillers, like JUVÉDERM®, are gel-like substances injected beneath the skin to enhance facial volume. Most injectors also use JUVÉDERM to smooth lines and soften creases or enhance facial contours in the cheeks, chin, and jawline. JUVÉDERM is a synthetic hyaluronic acid, which we produce naturally. As we age, our bodies produce less and less hyaluronic acid. We then see a gradual loss of volume because of this decline in production. That’s where injections like JUVÉDERM serve as a filler for areas affected by volume loss.
Dermal fillers can be used for a variety of other cosmetic concerns:
- Smooth out lines around nose and mouth (a.k.a. marionette lines, smile lines, and parentheses)
- Enhance & restore volume to sunken cheeks or temples
- Diminish vertical lip lines
- Plump & enhance the lips
- Smooth out a chin crease
- Improve symmetry among facial features
When selecting a provider for injectable treatments, give your decision the same level of care and scrutiny that you would when considering a surgical procedure. Nonsurgical filler is still a medical procedure that requires specific training, knowledge, and skill to ensure safe treatment and natural-looking results. Choose a provider with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy, a well-developed aesthetic eye, and a surgeon’s skill and precision.
Our board-certified dermatologist and UCLA fellowship-trained cosmetic injector and surgeon, Dr. Dafnis Carranza, offers the type of skill and training most can only find on the West Coast. She has the hands of a skilled surgeon, an eye for aesthetics, and a woman’s touch.

We participate in Allergan Aesthetics reward program Alle – the new face of the former rewards program Brilliant Distinctions.
