ABOUT CHEMICAL PEELS
A chemical peel is effective for the improvement of brown spots, sun damage, and a general resurfacing or tightening of the skin. Chemical peels can treat acne and greatly reduce the appearance of acne scarring and enlarged pores. This type of treatment helps exfoliate and smooth the skin, as well as improve the texture of the skin, creating a softer, glowing appearance. We can treat most places on the body, including the face, chest, hands, and back.
WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?
A chemical peel is a general classification for a number of chemical treatments used to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin. A chemical solution is applied to the skin and works by dissolving the upper layers of the skin. Typically during a chemical peel, nothing actually peels off. As tissue is dissolved, a wound forms on the skin, which stimulates the body’s healing response. This causes new tissue to emerge. The depth and strength of the peel will vary based upon the strength of the chemicals used and the length of time the solution is applied.
Chemical Peels Reviews
I love Dr. Carranza and her staff!! I have been her patient since 2013 and would never let anyone else take care of my dermatology needs! I always receive the best of care. She has taken care of my acne for many years and recently has begun taking care of my other cosmetic needs. I have received chemical peels, lip filler, botox, and many product recommendations from her & her staff. I have always been extremely pleased.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH CHEMICAL PEELS
A chemical peel won’t take more than 30 minutes. We start by cleansing your skin and preparing it with a solution. We protect the sensitive areas of the face, like the corners of your eyes, around the lips, and nose, with a barrier. Finally, we apply the chemical peel. The amount of time the peel will stay on the skin varies from patient to patient.
Recovery time for patients will depend on the type and strength of peel they’ve had. The common alpha hydroxy and glycolic acid peels have little or no recovery time. A slight pinkness to the skin may be present, but it usually fades rapidly.
With the high concentration peels, you can have some peeling and irritation for a few days afterward. Very aggressive peels with very high concentrations can be more problematic. The post-treatment effects and recovery times can be similar to a total skin resurfacing with a carbon dioxide laser. Recovering from a deep peel can take more than a week.
We believe great skin starts at home.
